My #FavouriteThing today was singing at my dear girlfriend’s grandma’s Celebration of Life. Weird favourite thing, I know. It was a lovely ceremony. And I got to work up a couple of classical pieces: Ave Maria and The Lord’s Prayer. (We also did a gospel-y version of Amazing Grace.) I haven’t worked on my classical voice in 20 years, and I really enjoyed working on it. Might just be spending some more time on that part of my voice…

I also was really happy to be able to contribute to their ceremony in a meaningful way. I love this family, and it’s never easy when people lose someone they love.

I got to play with pianist Jillian Lebeck today for the first time. Jill and I have known each other since we were in college, many moons ago, and I love her playing. She is also Kid #3’s piano teacher (and a great one!) But I’ve never actually played with her before. What a treat. A great pianist and a great accompanist are not always the same thing, and Jill is both.

What was your favourite thing today?
