My #FavouriteThing today was a good, long cuddle and chat with Kid #1 in my bed. She’s not home much these days, so moments like those are in credibly precious to me.
I also loved dinner time tonight with my girls. I made breakfast for dinner – always a hit. Eggs, sausage, pancakes, hashbrowns…the works. Kid #2 made the pancakes for me, and did a great job. And there was so much laughter around our table. Even when I left the table and the girls were cleaning up, there continued to be peals of laughter from the kitchen. And that makes my heart really, really full.
And finally, I really enjoyed a text conversation with my brother today. Just shooting the shit – nothing really in particular. But just good…lots of laughing at ourselves. He and I have always been close. But since Mum’s health has really taken a downturn, we’re really pulling together, and it’s shifting the way our relationship works. And I like how it’s changing.
What was your favourite thing today?
My favourite thing was waking up, once again, with my husband, daughter, and husband’s bestfriend in the house. My husband left early for a guys day, but our friend is a lot like me and likes to sleep in on Saturdays-so that’s just what we did. When we finally woke up in the morning, our friend (we’ll call him K), asked if he could take Kid #only to his parent’s farm next weekend. She will get to help out with some harvesting and see various farm animals. Very exciting for a city kid 🙂 THEN, K said that he was taking kid #only to a farm supply store to buy her kid sized overalls (like the full bodied kind-not the jean kind favoured by teens in the 90’s and pregnant women), a work hat, and some gloves. He took her shopping all by himself (he works in a group home, so he’s super great with kids), and I got to enjoy my coffee and run some errands at my leisure. Kid #only was thrilled with her “uncle’s” generosity 🙂 (he even bought her a toy truck).
After that, K left to join the other guys at paintball, and kid #only and I raked leaves. Whoo-hoo, exciting. lol. Except it was kind of fun because we were filling those pumpkin leaf bags and decorating the yard with them.
Another favourite thing was taking a break from yard work and watching Gilmour Girls on Netflix. That would have been nice anyway, but it was even more appreciated given that I was resting sore muscles.
Oh, and not to be forgotten, I loved getting a text from my brother before bed. He was letting me know that he and his sign.other are back from their week long vacation. We didn’t talk long, but we caught up on the basics and it’s good to know they had a nice time.
