My #FavouriteThing today was, again, playing with my band tonight. I can’t tell you how much making music with such incredibly talented music lifts my spirits and enlivens my soul. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity in my life to do this on a regular basis. To me, this is magic…the music and the joy is magic.
I also enjoyed my dear, sweet, amazing friend and guitar player rescuing me tonight when my car broke down. He also took me back after our gig and waited with me while the tow truck came. Then once we had the car all dealt with he came and had a drink at my house and we just chatted for a while. I am so very, very lucky to have that friendship in my life. It is like no other, and I treasure it very deeply.
What was your favourite thing today?
My favourite thing was being active and then NOT being active. I went for a bike ride by myself, which was nice. I don’t always get to do things like that because usually I’m the one home with our child, or we are enjoying precious few hours of family time. But yesterday I insisted on a solo ride. It was what I needed. I stopped by the library on my way home and came home with some books I’ve really wanted to read.
After lunch, the four of us (husband, bro-in-law, daughter, and me) took the dogs for a walk. We were going to take them to the waterfront, but decided against it. Instead, we drove down to waterfront sans doggies and walked the trail just us humans. The dogs were happy at home, napping in the A/C (it was a hot day and they had a nice long walk and playtime previously).
When we got home, my mother in law et al stopped by on their way home foe the East Coast. They are moving back to BC next summer, so we cherish every little visit we get with them now. The travel time to see each other will be the same, but the cost and planning required will be more. That means we might see them once a year at best. We will miss them.
After they left we had a quick supper (grilled cheese and grilled Daiya cheese-go mom!). Then it was time to settle in with those books. The books, thus far, are living up to my expectations.
Such a happy day.
