My #FavouriteThing today was having my brother and Amanda, and friends Tori and Whitney over to celebrate the twins’ birthdays. They couldn’t make it to the family dinner on Sunday, so we had a repeat tonight. It’s taco Tuesday after all. It was such a beautiful evening, Josh suggested picnicking out on the back lawn, and so we did. That was followed by a few rounds of Dance Central…which always gets pretty silly. Lots of fun and lots of laughter.
I also loved a fun text conversation with a friend that went on all day. Started with a phone conversation and ended up as an all-day text convo.
I also was happy to speak to a friend I haven’t spoken to in about a year. It was slightly nerve-wracking making that phone call, but in many ways it was lovely too. Twisted me up a little afterwards, missing them. But time does what time is supposed to do…heal. And time will continue doing its job. In the meantime, it was nice to touch in again with someone I held very dear.
What was your favourite thing today?
I would not have thought I’d find a favourite thing, but I did! I went to the doctor in the morning and found out I ear infections in both ears and a throat infection. Lovely. I went to work, but ended up leaving early because I remembered that a really wise woman recently blogged something about that-something along the lines of letting people down more by showing up and not being able to do your job. So, I picked my daughter up and went home.
That’s where I get to my favourite thing (had to have an intro, sorry). When I got home, my daughter was so sweet. She went full on nurse mode and brought me ice water and soda crackers (the doctor gave me heavy duty antibiotics and painkillers-both were doing a number on my tummy). Then, she even put a movie on for me on netflix. Totally unnecessary-I wasn’t asking her to do it-but very very sweet. We don’t allow her to watch tv through the week, so she then sat and read, or tried to read, books to herself while I vegged out.
When it came time for supper, I mustered up the energy to bbq some chicken and we enjoyed a chicken and fiddlehead picnic outside on our backdeck.
Sorry you’re not well. But good for you for choosing to take care of yourself instead of trying to push yourself through it. And it sounds like your little nurse had you well taken care of too ❤️
Thanks. She really did take good care of me 🙂
