My #FavouriteThing today was a friend of mine’s housewarming party tonight. She’s recently sold her house and moved into a townhouse, and tonight was the social christening. I was feeling quite tired, and still recovering from strep and losing my voice, I planned to only go for an hour or two and then come home. The best laid plans… I met some really lovely women there, and had some great conversations. One woman and I, in particular, may possibly have been twins separated at birth. I walked away from the evening (which turned into much later an evening than I had intended!) with new friends and plans for having coffee in the future. The funniest part of the evening was when I drove Brenda home, we discovered that she lives in the place I was *this close* to renting the last time I moved. If I hadn’t found the place I’m in now, I would be living where she lives. Peas in a pod….
I also enjoyed Kid #2’s School Fair this afternoon. It was the first time they’d done one like this – complete with kiddie rides and everything. I had to volunteer, and I worked my shift at the ticket table. And it was a nice opportunity to sit and chat with my ex-mother-in-law, who had brought Kid #2 to the Fair.
And, I enjoyed listening to my body and taking a nap after I came home from the Fair. I could barely keep my eyes open, and so I lay down…and woke up two or three hours later. Guess I needed it.
What was your favourite thing today?
My Favourite Thing has me over the moon happy-I want to shout it from the roof top: My brother found us!!!! 40 years ago, my mom had a baby boy and had to give him up for adoption because she was a teen with no way to provide for him. It must have just about killed her to do that. She’s just SUCH a momma bear. Last night she called me and told me that he’d found her, he lives less than 2 hours from me, and he wants to meet all of us. He and I ended up texting back and forth for 2 hours last night. I cannot believe how much we have in common…not just looks (which we do have. All three of us have blonde hair and blue eyes and my bro and I are tall-I’m 5ft 9, which is tall for a woman. He is 6 ft 3). We also both work in the same field, we have a similar sense of humour, etc. etc. Oh, and he told his parents who raised him to send his little brother back because he wanted a sister; I told our mom to send our little sister back because I wanted a brother. lol. I didn’t think I’d gain a sibling in my 30’s, but I’m happy about it. I’m happier still that my mom just got the best Mother’s Day gift ever (and yes, I already gave my brother shit for making the flowers I’m giving her pale in comparison to his gift. UGH. Brothers. ♥)
Oh Rachel, that is amazing! Truly amazing. I’m so happy for you. Please keep me posted!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
